This a very common issue when doing performance upgrades to the Trans Am’s with shaker hoods. If you use a stock height intake your original drop base will work. If you upgraded and it is taller you will need a drop base air cleaner. Ours has a drop of about 1" to allow your shaker to fit. Only works on Pontiac engines with Pontiac shaker base plates. Will not work on SBC or 403 Olds.
This can also be used on stock height intakes if you add a carb/air cleaner spacer.
